The clients purchased a sixth floor, two bedroom apartment within a 1980’s residential block overlooking the historic St. Katherine’s Dock near Tower Bridge, London. The professional couple wished to create a permeable unit reflecting an open-plan layout whilst still being able to account for privacy when guests are visiting. Volume 3 was commissioned to provide a turn-key project delivery with their sister construction company, Dal Riva.
The resulting scheme establishes a dichotomy between two zones. The active area comprised of the lounge, dining area, and the master bedroom thinly veiled behind a translucent glass wall, are all located along the front façade enjoying the south-facing floor to ceiling fenestration. The rear of the scheme contains the secondary spaces with materials which evoke the warmth of comfortable, solitary environments. The scheme is unified with bespoke furniture designed for each room, a custom media wall and tailored environmental controls which contribute to the singularity of each zone.
